Data source is an attribute. Active railroads should be topologically correct. Historic railroads may or may not be connected due to lack of information. This data is as complete as the sources it is derived from. This data is derived from maps at different scale and imagery at different scale. Therefore it can be no better than the accuccuracy of the original data. Active Railroads are for the most part corrected to NAIP 2006 photography and has an accuracy no greater than that of the imagery. In some areas higher resolution imagery has been used in compiltation with resultant higher accuracies. Historic railroad information is primarily derived from maps at various scales up to 125k. Where possible historic railroads were adjusted to the previously mentioned photography. This data is 2 dimensional and only the correction of surface appled to orthophotos that were a digitizing source is applicable. Initial Data was USGS 100k scale DLG. This was adjusted to 24k topographic maps and additional linework was added. This was in turn readjusted to 1990's vintage DOQ. Historic map sources were then added. This was all readjusted to NAIP 2006 and editied. This in turn was adjusted further with various high resolution sources. The data was migrated to geodatabase format in 2010 with a complete change in attributes to the current set which has its attributes primarily managed by domains.
